OPIA Theatre Collective creates and produces work that explores Canadian Identity and develops platforms for the creation and development of new Canadian work. OPIA is passionate about creating space for emerging artists to share their voices and push the boundaries of what theatre can be. Through writing rooms, premiering new plays, and our annual all night theatre festival Dark Crop, we also connect artists from various backgrounds in order to create a stronger, smarter, and more supportive arts community across Southern Ontario.

Founded in 2016, OPIA has produced work in Windsor, London, Kitchener, Cambridge, and Toronto. In 2016, OPIA won two Brickenden Awards for their production of Widow’s Wedding Dress written by company member Cassidy Hicks. OPIA also produces the Dark Crop Performance Festival - an all night arts festival in Cambridge, ON that showcases work from artists from across the country. Other credits include: Fermata (2017), My Life as a 6 ft Sunflower (2017), The Anger in Ernest and Ernestine (2017).
